The route rolls through open, lightly tree lined fields with the occasional stand of deep woods. The route travels mostly on ridge lines and crests, which provides for some spectacular panoramic views of the Missouri Ozarks, with a few cuts that expose the sedimentary layers that are the prehistoric remnants of the former Inland Sea that covered most of the middle of continent.
The route travels over the rolling hills of the Missouri Ozarks, with mostly sweeping curves punctuated with the occasional tighter turn or two. The roads is well maintained rolled asphalt.
Theodosia at the southern end of the route has a marina with a restaurant on the northern most arm of Bull Shoals Lake, under the shadow of the Theodosia Bridge, a 1951 10-span truss bridge on US-160.
